The interior of the 67 Shelby Mustang was
also stock GT Mustang. This car is a '67 GT 500 and belongs to
Kenny. The interior was Mustang Deluxe, molded seats with aluminum
trim, molded arm rests, brushed aluminum dash and door pieces. A center
console was not used, instead an early 65-66 Mustang gauge cluster was mounted
upside down in the center of the dash. The cluster held ammeter and oil
pressure gauges. A Shelby insignia identical to the one on the grille
was mounted above the glove box, SHELBY GT 350 or GT 500 and a '67
version of the coiled snake.
A padded rollbar was also installed with inertia aircraft type
shoulder harness mounted to it.
The steering wheel was wood grain with a unique '67 with a center cap
displaying SHELBY COBRA and the coiled snake. The dash picture to the
left is from a 67 GT500 that Terry
Fritz submitted. You can see the aluminum panels on the dash board,
the gauge pod in front of the shifter, lack of a console and the
shifter. Note that this shifter is not located in the stock location at
the center of the tunnel. This car has an after market shifter that
mounts on the side of the transmission requiring a new hole in the
tunnel for mounting. |
