- the hood

1967 GT 350 & GT 500 shared the same front end and hood. The early 67's got the driving lights installed side by side. The hood scoop opened in the middle of the hood. Note the break in the white stripes on the hood on Steve Blackett's GT500.

On each side of the stripes, see the wires? Those are hood pins. The 67 had a posts with a hole through them. Pins were inserted. The cable on the pins runs under the hood and is fastened to supports under the hood.

Note this 67 has the racing stripes over the car. Stripes were a dealer installed not a factory option.

Jeff Stieferman, '67 GT-500 pictured to the left also has the side by side driving lights.

You can see the front open air inlets of the 67 hood scoop better in this picture.

Note that the 67 also had an identifying emblem on the fight side of the car (left in both of these pictures.)

This '67 GT 500, sent in by Terry Fritz, shows the out board lights and a better view of the hood pin cables. You can also see the air in lets of the hood scoop. The grille emblem is missing from this grille.
