Shelby Differences
The 1968 Shelby Cobra
- The front fender emblem

The side emblem on the 1968 Shelby Cobra was unique to the year. Displayed to the left, the coiled snake was different but so was the use of the name "Cobra". 1968 is the only year that the Shelby Mustangs were labeled as Cobra. The original project called the cars Cobra Mustangs but that name did not go on the cars. All other years were simply Shelby Mustangs. The reason Cobra was added to this year in particular was to keep the name Cobra on a car in front of the public. Shelby had stopped producing Cobras in 1967 with plans to revive them later. Putting Cobra on a Mustang might do that.
