Our Plans for the Future of CarMemories.com We really want to build a car community on-line. A place that car people car hang out, upload and share pics and stories, technical information, and meet other people with a similar interests. It is also a place for clubs to host their sites and car gallery. At this end, we're a small team of car people and webwizards. We launched this site as a sister site to TheCarSource.com in the summer of 2001. It came from the partnership of two people. Those two are Dennis, who had a hobby web site dedicated to Shelby Cars that got out of control, and Brian, a webwizard extraordinaire. Once TheCarSource.com was moved to Brian's servers on the net, he recognized the value and popularity of the site. He offered his employees and experience to take the efforts a step farther, instead of displaying information, it could accept contributions. And that is the power of CarMemories.com. Members can upload their own pictures and stories. Members build the site. It is ever changing. Yes, there are going to be continual changes. We are constantly watching the site, making changes, additions and corrections. By the way, this site was written from scratch. It is not an off the shelf product. We have almost unlimited ability to effect changes in it. Well, we do have some limitations, time and our day jobs. On the drawing board are some real interesting changes. It costs us to keep this on the 'Net. Time is not the only thing that we are investing. Everytime someone looks at a page, our server sends the information out over the net to that person's computer. That is called bandwidth and it is not free. At some point we would like this to pay for itself. Hopefully, members and visitors will enjoy the site enough to offer some financial support. Soon we are going to offer additional services for members who subscribe to the site. The list grows but we are always open to suggestions and requests. At this time this list includes:
So come back often, learn to use CarMemories as your car website on the internet. Meet other people with similar interests in your kind of car. Learn about other cars. Join an on-line car club. Dennis |
