My Shelby Part II
Author: (more...)
I have been working on this car for about two years now, and it is
just about done. I am afraid to know how much I have spent on this
car, but if you have every had the pleasure of driving a GT350
you'll know it's worth it. A few things about this car, according to
SAAC, this is the 6th Blue car produced and one of 315 total. It was
originally ordered from Paradise Ford in Arizona in 1965. I am not
sure how many owners it has gone through, but the last owner had it
set up for drag racing and has about a 13.1 1/4 mile recorded in the
Shelby registry. Now it is set up for street driving with a kick. It
handles and drives very well considering it is about 37 years old.
All the suspension, engine, paint, and interior are new. It does not
have a back seat. This was replaced with a 65 tray. Underneath the
car has been detailed and undercoated. This helps keep road noise
down a bit. This car has no rust and belived to have all original
panels. The hood was replaced to an all fiber hood believed to have
been done by Shelby American in 66' due to a warped factory hood.
The engine it had when I got it is believed to be original. It had
the orginal heads, mains, pullys, oil pan, ballancer and rods. I
have changed several of these when rebuilding for abvious reasons. It
has a very nice working T5, but I am thinking about putting a Tremec
in the near future. Lastly, This car is a driver! I have no
intentions of ever letting it sit or just taking it to shows. I plan
to enjoy this car as much as possible. That's the way Carrol
intended it!
ps. I have recieved several emails regarding things I have done or
where to buy items, etc., and they are all very welcome.
