Here is Shelly with her new garage mate, a 2001 SVT Cobra. These two ride, steer, and corner very similarly. All the mods on Shelly took 150 punds of unsprung weight off her.
Even with the suspension and steering mods, she still has the stock ride height and geometry. I also changed the brakes to 4 wheel discs, using 12" Wilwood 4 piston caliper units but with the stock power booster and master cylinder. She needed new wheels to clear the calipers, so Edelbrock 454s were used.
To complete the super driver mods, this shows the TCP power rack and pinion unit that replaced the sloppy old overboosted, recirculating ball stock unit. This one is 3 turns lock to lock, and makes her steer like a new one, precise is the word.
Under the car, the super driver mods can be seen. These are TCP Bilstein coilovers on the front suspension, with new upper and lower control arms and struts. This makes her handle like a new car, and corner very flat. The original sway bars are great, so they are still there.
Here is Shelly's engine bay. She has the original 302, not rebuilt, with baed blasted exhaust manifolds and a new, OEM Holley 600 CFM double pumper. Valve covers are the originals, air cleaner is new type, original one is undergoing a restoration now. Yes, she has original A/C.
Here's Shelly's interior, it's all stock with new carpet, but the seat covers, belts, consol, shifter, gauges, dash, etc. are all original, she has 46,000 actual miles.
